Patras: West Gate
Monday, May 9th, 2011Patras is the third largest city in Greece. It has a metropolitan area of 250 thousand inhabitants. Is the political, economic, administrative and cultural center of western Greece. Its history includes four millennia. In the Roman period it became a cosmopolitan center of the eastern Mediterranean.

The city is the capital of the prefecture of Greece: Achaia. In addition to the periphery of western Greece. It is the main urban center of the Peloponnese peninsula. Patras mean much in Christianity, since it is the place where St. Andrew was martyred. In total there are three different religions: Orthodox, Catholic and Anglican Churches.
Patras is considered the Gateway to the West of Greece, a title he won for his role as an international commercial center, while the activity is very important port for trade and communication with Italy and the rest of Western Europe.
