Doha is the capital of Qatar and is situated next to a shallow bay on the eastern coast of the peninsula of Qatar. As we explained in the previous section, Doha was an obligatory stop on our flight to Manila with Qatar Company, a circumstance that we decided to also visit the city as otherwise expressly hardly have visited this country. So when we bought the plane ticket, deliberately took a connecting flight to Manila that left us a margin of 18 hours between arrival and departure of Doha.

Upon arrival at Doha airport, and upon entering the arrivals hall, we asked where to get a transit visa (this must be sponsored by the airline with which we fly and downtime in Doha should not be less than 6 hours), while we show the ticket to our next flight to Manila. An employee told us a counter to the terminal entrance (left side as you enter) that went to apply for a visa. With our tickets and passports there we filled out some papers with who we thought they would have required visa, but what was our surprise to see that in fact we were giving a free transit visa and a ticket which included, also for free, the stay all day in a super deluxe room in a new 5-star hotel including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and transportation between the hotel and the airport. We do not know why such a gift, but you can understand why our five-star Doha memory!.

after immigration control and the transit visa in the passport we left the parking lot to wait for the hotel shuttle that comes to pick up the airport. Ten minutes later we collected and after a 15 minute journey leaves us at the entrance of the hotel. This is the Mövenpick Tower & Suites Doha (West Bay Area. PO 22752 – Doha, tel. +974 4 966 600), a luxurious five-star hotel was inaugurated a few months before our stay and is located at the north end Bay, a posh area and new construction where skyscrapers are rising each more spectacular (in fact, the hotel occupies a 26-storey tower that is already part of the skyline of Doha). Back at the hotel we took possession of our fantastic suite of 65 m² on the 17th floor with amazing views. It also climbed to the top floor, where a beautiful indoor pool and spa, enjoying spectacular views of the area, including the emerald waters of the bay. After a breakfast worthy of the category of hotel we are going to visit the city, but not before changing a few dollars into local currency at the hotel reception.
