Corfu, Beautifull Greek Island
To get to Corfu, the most practical way is to make it through the air connections from Athens to the island’s capital, also called Corfu. Once on the island, we rented a car to tour or use the public transportation system buses. From Corfu town there are excursions to the many smaller islands off the coast there.
The capital city is an attraction in itself, with its many architectural influences, especially the Venetian, is one of the most beautiful cities around Greece. Home to a bustling port and the main airport, Corfu displays an offer worth knowing.
Persist between its urban plant some witnesses of past times less gentle, with the ruins as the ancient fortification. Monuments, churches, temples including the famous Temple of Artemis and monasteries as Santeodoros worth a visit. In the old residential area, small Venetian palaces from medieval alleyways, houses and many public buildings offer a short walk through time. Since 2007, the Old Town of Corfu, full of Latin and Byzantine churches, Venetian fortresses and Greek and Roman ruins, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is especially recommended the typical cuisine of Corfu, based on natural products and ingredients produced on the island and world famous.
