However, should not detract from the cuisine and dishes from countries such as Greece, highly influenced by Italian cuisine, Middle East and the Balkans.

By geographical location and Greek culinary history, cuisine can be framed within the Mediterranean cuisine and has varied over time, keeping some differences over how the ancient Greeks ate, based on wheat, olive oil and wine.

In Ancient Greece, its people were fed three times a day, consisting of a breakfast consisting of bread with figs and olives, lunch at noon and dinner at nightfall, the most important among the three.

Even today the olive oil retains its importance and dominance as the main ingredient in Greek dishes. It is what gives that particular taste of Greek cuisine. Wheat is also still widely used, along with vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, green beans and onions. Meat or fish consumed by area, and also has high-quality cheese protected designation of origin, such as: the Anevato, Feta, Kasseri, the Manouri, the Batz, among many others.

Moussaka

Moussaka – as it is called in Greek – is a bit like meatballs: Each home has its recipe, and your mother always tastes best. Especially with meat sauce are possible variations – you can also make a vegetarian moussaka, if using a vegetable sauce instead of meat sauce.

Ingredients:

1.5 kg aubergines (equivalent to approx. 4 aubergines) or
750 grams of eggplant and 750 grams large potatoes
olive oil for brushing
salt, pepper

Flights to Crete – Have you not yet visited this amazing island, so it’s time. It is a journey you will never forget as Crete has so much to offer, both culturally and naturally. When you come to the island, do not cheat yourself to spend at least one of your holidays to rent a car or a scooter. There are some super nice beaches on the island and then there are the great mountain range which runs across the island, which you must cross en route. “Omme on the other side” is really cool attractions like. Samaria Gorge and Elafonissi beach, which is so nice, friendly and delicious that you should visit it to understand it.
